Our 2nd cutting Timothy hay is leafy with soft stem, and a medium amount of flowery heads. (Small animals love the flowery heads… yum!) The texture and fiber amount is in between 1st and 3rd cutting, and many pet parents consider 2nd cutting to be the best of both worlds. (It’s the most popular hay we sell.)

2nd cutting Timothy hay is green in color but may be mixed with yellow/brown depending on weather and growing conditions. This is totally normal and not harmful to your animal. Hay is a natural product.

First, our premium paper-based bedding is totally soft. And that’s oh so important for our animals. Comfy is key. Plus, it’s absorbent. When we were in the process of developing this small animal bedding, one of our biggest concerns (after animal safety, of course) was the smell. Because we don’t believe in added scent blockers (or any unnatural ingredients) we focused on making sure our bedding absorbs better. After all, better absorption = less smell. And less smell = happier you. Happier you = happier animals.

Now let’s talk about safety; the most important thing to consider when deciding on bedding. Our premium soft paper bedding is 99% dust-free. It’s sludge free, and recycled print is never used. Ever. P.S. Just to give you a way to determine what these sizes mean in the real world: a large bag of bedding fills approx. 20 extra-large litter boxes with about 3 inches of fluffed paper bedding.

P.P.S. We recommend removing damp spots or soiled areas between changes and replacing the paper bedding every one to two days (or fluffing to prevent large damp areas where your animal stands). Damp bedding can cause urine scald.

We offer an ultra-awesome, top-of-the-line Timothy hay rabbit pellet, fortified with all essential vitamins and minerals. Small Pet Select rabbit food pellets are made in small batches with only the finest ingredients, including our very best hand-selected Timothy hay. (We actually go to the fields to choose the hay we offer. And our CEO has 20/20 vision. No joke.)

Pellets can be such a great supplement for your rabbit’s diet. Although hay is the most important part of your rabbit’s diet (really, it’s #1), when you want to provide a little extra nutrition, pellets could be your answer.

We recommend feeding with Small Pet Select Timothy hay, freshwater (always!), and moderate amounts of fresh veggies.

Stay away from junky big-box pet store rabbit pellets; they’re packed with unsafe ingredients and can cause obesity, teeth issues, and other scary things. While the mixes may look appealing, they don’t have the nutrients your rabbit deserves. And needs. You won’t be sorry your rabbit tried this stuff. And they won’t be sorry, either.

Feeding Instructions:

Rabbit pellets should make up less of a rabbit’s diet as he or she grows older, and hay should be available 24 hours a day. From 7 weeks - 7 months, rabbits can have unlimited access to pellets. From 7 months - 1 year, decrease rabbit food pellets to 1/2 cup per six lbs. body weight. From 1 year - 5 years, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of rabbit pellets per six lbs. body weight (depending on metabolism) is recommended.
